Explore New Zealand's west coast Only a few kilometres from Auckland, discover black sand beaches, excellent views out to the Tasman Sea and dense tropical forests.
After leaving your hotel you will travel by bus to the island's west coast. The tour starts with a visit to the Arataki Visitor Centre where you will enjoy an exhibition on Maori culture. We then go to the coast where you can see magnificent Maori sculptures. Then you follow a relaxing walk through the giant trees of the tropical forest.
The second walk takes you to the black sand beach of Piha with breathtaking views of the Tasman Sea. The last part of the guided tour is a walk through a forest which has been protected from all human activity. The trees in this forest are over 1000 years old, and after millions of years of isolation the diversity of the flora and fauna of this ecosystem will blow you away!
At the end of the tour you will be returned to your central Auckland hotel.
