Enjoy a breathtaking view of the lagoons and part of the island from the summit of Le Morne Brabant!
Le Morne Brabant is a mountain located in the South-West of Mauritius, on the Morne peninsula. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and at an altitude of over 550 metres, it is one of the most imposing on the island as well as one of the most unspoilt.
You will meet your guide in the village of Le Morne and after a short briefing, you will begin your cilmb of approximately 4 hours. You will follow your guide through the trails; you will need to use your hands in some places along the route, but you'll reach the summit safely.
During your hike, you will discover some of the native species, including the island's national flower, the Trochetia Boutoniana, more commonly known as the "Boucle d'oreille" (earring).
You'll also learn more about the history of Le Morne Brabant and how Mauritians see it as a symbol of freedom and peace: the site is a monument to fleeing slaves, who are said to have committed suicide by hurling themselves off the top of the mountain.
Once at the summit, you can admire the superb panorama of the surrounding area and stunning views of the lagoons to the west and south-west and the crystal-clear waters.
Finally, you will begin your descent, still accompanied by your guide, to return to the starting point.
